SharePoint 2007 to 2010 migration

Hello

We have installed a new 2010 server can anyone provide any pointers, tips or any other advice in migrating out 2007 portal to 2010, we have read other notes and forums and they all mention that it may be best to re-create the site libraries and sites and move data across as the templates don't upgrade that well?

Any advice and experience would be appreciated.
